Much More Than A CNC Machine!

STEPCRAFT gives you more than a CNC machine!  From the Freestyle Milling to two different machine table levels, the STEPCRAFT M-Series offers you unprecedented freedom, making the STEPCRAFT M-Series the most mobile ad versatile CNC milling machine in the world.

With the STEPCRAFT M-Series, you can easily process large sheets of material, floors, or even existing furniture.  You can let your creativity run free because all tools that are compatible with the D-Series can also be used on the STEPCRAFT M-Series.  You can use the system for milling, cutting, carving, 3D printing, laser engraving, and much more. The STEPCRAFT M-Series is perfect for workshops, job sites, schools, and production facilities.

Our German-Engineered CNC technology gives you high-precision results. The STEPCRAFT M-Series offers precision, durability and reliability often only found in industrial machines thanks to the innovative extruded profiles and the Bosch Rexroth linear guides. We have gone to great lengths to deliver concealed cable routing on our M-Series CNC milling machines for a clean work environment so you can focus on what matters... your work!  Our innovative Semi Closed Loop System™ acts as your "insurance policy", preventing lost steps and protecting your work in the event something goes wrong.  This page is full of examples as to why STEPCRAFT is a world leader in benchtop CNC systems that can grow as your skills  and your business grows.

Semi Closed-Loop System™

Every STEPCRAFT M-Series machine will automatically realign the gantry after each reference run when homing the machine.  The optional Semi-Closed Loop System gives you the additional insurance of step monitoring in your CNC system. If the system detects a deviation from predefined steps from any motor, such as in the event of a crash or incorrect settings, the emergency stop is triggered automatically and your workpiece is protected. Then you simply correct the error, reference the machine and continue your job where you left off.

Precision Linear Guides

Every axis of the STEPCRAFT M-Series CNC machines utilizes precision hardened linear guide rails from Bosch Rexroth.  These recirculating ball bearing linear rails provide a high load-bearing capacity, extremely reliable performance with no wear.  A special seal is built into every bearing carriage to protect the linear guide system from dust and debris, giving you a reliable, virtually maintenance-free CNC guide system. German-based Bosch Rexroth is a global leader in the manufacturing of precision ball bearing linear guide systems. Only the finest components are used in the STEPCRAFT M-Series CNC machines which gives you high performance and a very accurate CNC system.

Highly Stable Frame Profiles

The frame profiles are one of many areas where STEPCRAFT really excels and is constantly setting new standards with regards to the stability and design of CNC machines.  The custom extruded frame profiles are the result of countless hours of design engineering and testing utilizing the best in CAD/CAM and analysis software.  These design elements create a high force absorption and even distribution of the forces within the axis.  An extremely high torsional stiffness is achieved this way.  The STEPCRAFT frame profiles offer a level of stability that is not possible with steel.

The STEPCRAFT M series works with maximum precision and accuracy and runs quietly and vibration-free. You have the freedom to choose between igus® dryspin threaded spindles or HIWIN® ball screws . The powerful NEMA 23 motors drive the CNC controlled machine powerfully through a wide variety of materials.

  • Specially developed for screw drives
  • Based on wear-resistant igus® high-performance polymers
  • Up to 5 times longer service life with higher efficiency
  • Low noise and vibration-free
  • Driven with powerful NEMA 23 stepper motors on X, Z and both sides of the Y axis

  • Can optionally be used instead of standard igus® dryspin threaded spindles
  • They offer smoother and more precise movement of the CNC
  • Balls roll between the threaded spindle and nut via the ball return system in an endless loop with zero backlash
  • Suggested for applications where maximum precision and accuracy are needed

Powerful NEMA 23 Stepper Motors

Four, high torque Sanyo Denki NEMA 23 stepper motors are used in every M-Series CNC system.  A single motor on X and Z and dual motors on the Y-axis ensure that you have more than enough power for all your CNC projects, no matter how large or what material you are machining into.  In fact, this motor drive system provides more power and cutting speed than any competitor in its class - over 283 in/min (120mm/sec).

Optimal Dust Protection

Keeping your machine running as long as possible between maintenance sessions is critical to having a healthy profit margin.  The easiest way to get the most uptime possible is to keep dust and debris from getting into critical areas on the CNC system.  The M-Series CNC machines use three rubber seals on the Y-axis to prevent debris from entering the machine, thus keeping the drive system and linear guides clean. Additionally, the new floating dust boot traps most of the dust and debris before it can even become a problem.

Fully Ready-To-Run or Kit Systems

STEPCRAFT USA offers all M-Series CNC Systems fully assembled and tested by one of our technical CNC experts in our facility in Torrington, CT.   This ensures that your machine will arrive ready for you to plug in and start making projects.  However, if you are the type of person who loves to build a machine, you can also order the M-Series machines in a CNC kit for a slightly reduced cost.  If you have any questions about this or are undecided as to what option is best for you, then please email us at or call us at 203-556-1856 and we will be happy to assist you.

A STEPCRAFT M-Series CNC gives you the ability to mill, laser or engrave – wherever and however you want! The STEPCRAFT M-Series is the world's only CNC milling machine that enables true Freestyle Milling™! Place the CNC milling machine exactly where it is needed. The  powerful vacuum rails secure the machine to the surface of your work material . Thanks to the completely removable machine table, you can process floors, furniture or panel materials according to your wishes. The numerous mobile application options make the STEPCRAFT M series the most versatile CNC machine in the world, protected as a registered utility model with the German Patent and Trademark Office.

Finally a machine that only has to be as big as your milling idea! Save yourself the money for large CNC milling machines. With the STEPCRAFT M series you can simply remove the table and mill through from above.

Creative ideas need freedom! Whether table top, cupboard or wood flooring, thanks to Freestyle Milling™ you can individually process existing furniture and built-in floors

It's locked down! The vacuum rails are simply mounted on the CNC milling machine and connected to a suitable vacuum cleaner. The resulting vacuum then fixes your CNC machine in place.

Available In 4 Different Machine Sizes

STEPCRAFT offers four different machine sizes in the M-Series so you can choose the machine that best meets your needs and budget. Each machine has all the same features and performance numbers with the physical size and size of the work area being the only difference.

The STEPCRAFT M-Series offers you completely new possibilities for CNC manufacturing. You can now produce almost any CNC project in your workshop on two different machine table levels. With the optional 90° T-slot table, workpieces can even be clamped vertically. The old CNC saying is, "If you can't hold it, you can't machine it". Well with the STEPCRAFT M-Series, you can hold your material in more ways than on any other machine.

Vacuum Table or T-Track - or Both?

Depending on your project, you have the option of using MDF with aluminum T-Tracks, aluminum T-Track panels (see picture in the next block) or a Vacuum Table.  No matter how you want to clamp your material, we have you covered.  It is rare to see a Vacuum Table on a desk or benchtop CNC system, but the flexibility that it offers you is unparalleled.  When you run sheet material like plastic, plywood, aluminum and more, you never have to worry about hitting clamps or having your material move.  Vacuum also makes it quick to change from one job to another.

Two Machine Table Heights

Each STEPCRAFT M-Series machine gives you the ability to configure the machine table with two different height locations, giving you up to 8" of Z height clearance. Why is this important?  Because now you can work on taller projects with ease and when using accessories like the 4th Axis, you have more vertical capacity to open up a whole new world of project possibilities.  The STEPCRAFT cam lock table mounts allow you to remove and reconfigure the machine table the simple turn of an Allen wrench. You can even leave the vacuum table on the bottom position and T-Track on the top or vise-versa.

90º Vertical Clamping Fixture

Dovetails and box joints are very popular amongst woodworkers and cabinetmakers.  Having a CNC with the ability to securely install work material vertically to machine the ends of boards is a bonus in any shop. Think about all of the possible end joints that you can incorporate into your CNC projects with the ability to machine on the ends of materials.  Joints that would be next to impossible with standard hand tools can be accomplished with ease on the M-Series. This table attachment can be added or removed in seconds - less setup time equals more production time.

Performance That Matters!

It was not enough to introduce a CNC System with features and technology never seen before, but the STEPCRAFT M.1000 CNC system was designed with performance and accuracy numbers that make it truly stand out from the competition.  It features cutting speeds up to 280 in./min. (120 mm/sec). Move your cutter faster and get more work done in less time.  The M.1000 offers some of the highest speeds in its class.  Now we add superior accuracy to the high speeds and you have a CNC system that is beyond compare.  Consider the programmable resolution of 0.0002" with repeatability of up to +/- 0.0005" (thanks to the HIWIN ball screws) and you have a machine that can is up to the most intricate of cutting/engraving tasks.

Multiple Connectivity Options

The STEPCRAFT M-Series CNC systems will come standard with the CNC Drive UC100 USB 2.0 connectivity, however, you have the option of using a direct parallel connection as well as the new RJ45 ethernet connection.  No matter how you wish to control your M-Series machine, STEPCRAFT has you covered.  UCCNC machine control software comes with every STEPCRAFT CNC system, which requires the use of a Windows 7 - 10 desk or laptop computer.

Many Optional Attachments

The M-Series line of CNC machines comes with a 43mm standard tool holder adapter.  This means that you can use all of the existing STEPCRAFT accessories on these machines.  ( CLICK HERE TO SEE ATTACHMENTS ) This gives you the ability to have your M-Series CNC become more than a CNC.   You can laser engrave, cut vinyl, paper, cardboard, fabrics, foam, leather, and much more.  This multifunction capability sets STEPCRAFT apart in the CNC world giving you more flexibility than any other machine in its class.  There is no longer a need to buy multiple machines when you can combine all that functionality into a single system.
